ADULT SAILING

Beginner Sailing

The 2019 Sailing for Beginners Program will be offered on Saturday mornings from 9-11am on July 6th, July 20th, August 3rd and August 17th. Specifically designed for absolute beginners, we'll focus on the basics of sailing, including rigging a boat, setting a course, sailing and steering, terminology, knots and sailing safety. Everything you always wanted to know!

We'll gather on the porch before each lesson for a "chalk talk" to discuss the day's objectives and then get on the water to practice and apply those skills.

Please register by the Wednesday prior to a given lesson via the link below or by e-mail. This will allow us to make sure we have a sufficient number of instructors and sailboats. If you have any questions / suggestions, please contact us.

Advanced Sunfish

Dave Thompson will be holding Sunfish lessons Thursday evenings. Dave is one of LYC’s most accomplished sailors, and he gladly shares his knowledge and enthusiasm.

Dave will hold Chalk Talks to discuss sailing techniques, conduct  sprint races to practice and apply the sailing skills (awards will be given!) and hold a de-brief at the end of the lesson to recap the lessons learned.

This is a terrific opportunity to begin or improve your Sunfish sailing skills, meet new members, enjoy the sunset over the bay and simply have a good time.

If you have any questions / suggestions, please contact Dave Thompson (908-216-1002).
