For decades, we have developed great sailors, nourishing their love for the water and providing them with the best in equipment, facilities and instruction. We don’t just teach kids how to sail—we teach them to love sailing.

We offer junior sailing instruction from June to August for children of all skill levels on a variety of boats.  We'll see you on the water!

Developing the Next Generation

JUNIOR SAILING

Our Fleets

From lessons alongside an instructor in our Hunter boats to the independence of single-handed and double-handed cruising, we offer instruction on a variety of boats that will suit anyone's age or skill level. Hunters. Perfect for first-year sailors, Hunters allow our juniors to learn the ropes alongside our world-class instructors in sailboats that accomodate 4-5 persons. Optimist Prams. These high-performance, single-handed boats are the most popular junior fleet in the world. Sailed by juniors aged 8-13, the Opti is a great choice for everyone from beginners to highly advanced racers and has become the standard for junior sailing on the east coast. Laser Radial. As the world's most popular adult racing sailboat, the Laser is a single-handed boat that rewards athleticism and tactical excellence. Typically sailed by sailors age 13 and up, our fleet includes Laser Radials and Laser 4.7s (for sailors under 110 pounds) so that no matter your size, the speedy Laser is an option. 420. The standard in high school and collegiate sailing, the 420 is a double-handed sailboat that combines the independence of sailing with the teamwork of a two-person boat. With the added excitement of flying a spinnaker and hanging out on the trapeze, it's no wonder the 420 has remained one of the most popular fleets for decades. Feva. As the new kid on the block, the Feva is a fast-growing and increasingly popular fleet. Aimed at juniors that favor a high-performance sportboat, this double-handed boat boasts a mainsail, jib and gennaker.

Our Juniors

We welcome all juniors from the ages of 7 to 18 whose parents or grandparents are active members of the club. For your child's safety, we require that all participants pass a swim check on the first day of program.

Our Programs

Whether you're going for gold at the Junior Olympics or have never stepped onto a sailboat, we have a program suited for you! Pre-Sailing Program. Designed for our beginner sailors age 7-8, your child will learn sailing fundamentals, the parts of the boat and knot tying and be introduced to sailing in Hunters and Optis with an instructor in the boat at all times. Instruction is four mornings per week. Because we have consistently experienced high demand for this program and availability is limited to the first 15 students, we recommend that you pre-register early to ensure a spot! Four Weeks: $460 • Eight Weeks: $660 Junior Program. Designed for junior sailors of all ages and skill levels, our junior program is aimed at improving your sailing whether you're learning the basics or refining advanced techniques. The class is divided by fleet -- Beginner Opti ("Opti Green"), Advanced Opti, Laser, 420 and Feva -- with experienced, dedicated instructors assigned to each. In addition to lessons in a small-group setting, our instructors accompany students to regattas at various yacht clubs around the Barnegat Bay where they can put their training to the test! Instruction is four full days per week. Register by March 31st to enroll at the discounted rates below! Four Weeks: $695 • Eight Weeks: $835
