Outdoor Dining Returns to LYC on Friday, June 19th!

Dear Members,

When Bob Dylan wrote “the times they are a changing" could he have had some premonition about the Spring and Summer of 2020? We have adapted and modified our lifestyles as regulations and restrictions are instituted, then modified and lifted. Your Board of Governors has been working non-stop to stay current with these changing regulations. When the original Executive Order was issued, LYC was considered a “social club” and restrictions were expected to last quite some time. However, once we were qualified as a marina and those restrictions were lifted, we opened our marina and boat parking areas. We are making plans for our Junior Sailing Program to begin July 6th under new operating procedures to ensure a successful (and safe) summer. In addition, we are now excited to announce the opening of Outside Dining beginning on Friday evening, June 19th and Saturday, June 20th! We look forward to welcoming you back with a complete menu of entrees, appetizers, desserts and drinks to be served on our Porch and Patio. Dining Protocols To ensure the safety of our Members and Stewards and in compliance with New Jersey guidelines for outdoor dining, we are implementing a variety of safety protocols. The highlights are as follows:

  • Tables will be arranged to ensure six feet of separation and be limited to a capacity of eight patrons per table.

  • Tables, chairs and any other shared items will be disinfected between each seating.

  • You will notice that our Stewards will be wearing masks and gloves and maintaining six feet of separation from Members whenever possible. We will also be implementing daily health screenings of our Stewards.

  • We will require that Members maintain social distancing at all times and wear a face covering whenever not seated at their table. Hand sanitizer will be available.

  • We will continue to promote electronic ordering on your mobile device via the LYC app to limit contact with shared items such as menus or tablets.

  • While the interior of the Clubhouse will remain closed in compliance with the Governor's executive order, interior access will be permitted for use of the restrooms.

Reservation System We will be introducing a reservation system in an effort to properly distance our Members and manage capacity. In addition, upon arrival, you will be greeted by a hostess who will show you to your table. Those Members that wish to come by for a drink will be directed to marked tables or a tented area to socially congregate at a safe social distance. Be on the lookout for the first edition of the Scuttlebutt later this week, which will provide additional details on the reservation system, as well as the weekly specials and featured cocktail. Club Operations We look forward to continuing to phase-in other amenities in a safe and responsible way in the coming weeks. We expect to have our Championship Sailing Series up and running within the next couple of weeks. Our Bridge and Mahjong players will be able to play on the porch until we get the “all clear” to use the Clubhouse. Yoga will also be returning on the patio. In time, we hope to reintroduce the various forms of entertainment to which you’ve become accustomed at LYC, including live music on weekends and maybe even Trivia Part VI on the porch. However, on a more serious note, I want to reassure each Member that we are taking COVID-19 and your safety very seriously. We have worked tirelessly to implement appropriate protective measures and protocols aimed at reducing the likelihood of infection. I would ask each Member to review and sign the Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver that attests that you will not come to the Club property if you exhibit any symptoms of illness, that you will comply with the face-mask requirements while on Club property and that you will exhibit proper social distancing. Please either submit the form online or print, sign and drop in the Club mailbox or mail to PO Box 321, Lavallette, NJ 08735. We look forward to seeing you at the Club. On behalf of your Board of Governors,

Commodore John Broderick
